It was in the basement of their home in NEWARK, USA, that Bill and his wife Genevieve GORE founded their company W.L.GORE & Associates in 1958.

Initially, their company was focused on the electronics market, but Bob GORE's discovery in 1969, Bill and Geneviève's son, of a new polymer with exceptionally versatile properties, led the company to new applications in both the medical and industrial textile sectors.

In the cycling clothing sector, the company was among the first in 1985 to offer its range of clothing on this recent market.

This is how the brand's flagship products were created: GORE-TEX fabrics and WINDSTOPPER fabrics, which have become a reference in the world of cycling textiles.

GORE-TEX fabrics provide the user with maximum comfort; they are breathable, windproof and waterproof. Whether in driving rain or hot weather, these fabrics keep the cyclist dry.

Rain does not pass through the garment while perspiration evaporates. This is because this fabric is made up of billions of microscopic pores 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water and 700 times larger than a molecule of water vapour!
WINDSTOPPER fabrics protect the cyclist from the cold, as well as the heat, allowing him to ride in all weather conditions.
The other fabrics selected for the manufacture of GORE garments meet very precise specifications concerning compression qualities, moisture management, cooling, ventilation...

GORE clothing has achieved a high reputation for its high quality, technicality and design. The brand has won numerous awards, including being voted best cycling clothing brand in 2014 for the twelfth consecutive year by readers of the renowned German magazine Mountain BIKE.
