Julbo: The Creator of Crystallier Glasses for the Mountains

Julbo is a French brand based in the Jura region.

Jules Baud, its founder, developed the first crystallier glasses at the request of Chamonix residents who wanted to protect their eyes in the mountains. This is how the company began in 1888. Julbo then launched the Vermont glasses in 1950, specially designed for glacier expeditions and climbing the highest peaks. Also used in a lifestyle mode, they are an iconic reference of the brand.

Yannick Seigneur, a renowned alpinist known for being the first Frenchman to climb the three "8,000s," was the technical advisor for the brand and tested many Julbo glasses models. The brand now equips the best French and international athletes, including Fabien Barel in mountain biking, the biathlon legend Martin Fourcade, and renowned trail runners like Xavier Thévenard, Julien Chorier, Caroline Chaverot, Michel Lanne, and Julien Jorro.
