In the old days we used to bring a Coleman gas lantern. But this Orbiter 650 takes all the hassle away and just gives convenient bright light. I think it’s a little large for backpacking, but I wouldn’t go car camping without this lantern. I was surprised how much I like the folding legs. And the collapsible rings on top are super convenient for hanging up around camp or in a tent. Brightness is adjustable and sufficiently bright for a picnic table. And the changing colors feature is pretty cool.

I bought this for an overnight float trip, as our group lacked camp lighting for the trip. I'm very happy with this purchase! It provided ample light for the kitchen while we finished cooking dinner after sunset. After that, we switched it to party mode while we had drinks around the campfire. This lantern became our main source of light throughout the trip because of its brightness and multiple options for illumination. It fits great in a . 50cal ammo can or kitchen box for transport down the river. Definitely recommend it if you are someone who goes camping with groups a lot.

The orbiter 650 is an overall performer with up to 650 lumens of light and water proof versatility around the campsite. I'll admit that this might be a little large for backpacking, but for everything else it can't be beat. The brightness can be be adjusted from a dim companion in your tent up to full brightness. There are a number of settings including colored lights, side and bottom white lights, side only for table top, or bottom only for hanging in your tent from the lantern loop. I've had one out in the rain and it is fully water proof. The battery can also be used to charge cell phones or personal electronics. This is especially helpful for those campsites without power. The fold up legs can be pulled up out of the way for hanging applications, or extended for setting on a picnic table. I used to bring a Coleman gas lantern to car camps, but have not used it since getting an Orbiter 650. Everyone comments on how much they like this handy and bright camp lantern.

I purchased this lantern for a mellow raft trip out in the desert to use in our kitchen area. And boy, it is bright! Once we were done with dinners, we turned it to party mode for some nighttime fun. It's really convenient that it can either be hung from a tree or has foldable legs for the tabletop, it's also convenient that it doubles as a charger as well with both USB-A and USB-C ports. It does fit inside a .50 cal ammo can for safe keeping during the day on the river. Definitely recommend this lantern for your next car camping or raft trip.
