Target locked on the top step of the podium and developed in the crucible of World Cup competition, the 40 is the definitive DH race fork. The GRIP X2 damper now offers more tunability and traction than ever before, ensuring the 40 stays planted in the hot seat.
The forks feature a number of innovations: bleeders to balance internal and external pressures, air/oil ramps for better air pressure management and optimised lubrication of the upper seals, a new hoop for even greater rigidity, and a floating axle system to ensure perfect alignment between fork and hub.
On the spring side, the Fox 40 uses the brand's signature Float air system, with a number of improvements to increase progressiveness and reduce friction.
On the hydraulic side, the Fox 38 benefits from the Grip X2, which is the most adjustable, smoothest and softest lowering cartridge ever created by Fox. Riders enjoy the benefits of sitting higher in the travel while the tyres stay glued to the ground, with increased traction through corners. It gives you the confidence to push the limits of downhill and enduro riding, while reducing rider fatigue. Grip X2 is the winning difference.

Float damping:
The FLOAT air shock developed for the 32, 34 and 40 forks is lighter and reduces the force required to trigger it. It offers excellent sensitivity over small bumps, whatever the rider and whatever the pressure setting.
Similar to FLOAT shock absorbers, the FLOAT system features negative and positive chambers that automatically balance each other. This provides the right pressure for every rider. The progressiveness of the damping curve can be adjusted by means of air volume spacers, so mountain bikers can fine-tune the behaviour of the air shock.
Kabolt axle:
The 40’s floating thru axle allows perfect chassis alignment and reduces unwanted friction between the upper and lower fork legs, providing much smoother suspension movement throughout the entire range of travel.
Grip X2 settings:
Low-speed compression (LSC): 18 clicks.
High-speed compression (HSC): 8 clicks.
Low-speed rebound (LSR): 16 clicks.
High-speed rebound (HSR): 8 clicks.
