wheel is the dream of all cross-country racers who have only one thing in mind: performance. Developed in partnership with professional racers looking for a competitive edge in the World Cup or Olympic Games, it uses a 29" (340g) all-carbon rim, which allows for fast acceleration and climbing without compromising stiffness and durability. The special Adaptive Lay Up technique allows Mavic to build carbon rims using less material between the spokes. The spoke holes are reinforced with strategically positioned carbon layers, which allows for weight reduction without compromising stiffness and strength. A lighter rim means faster acceleration, more efficient climbing and better responsiveness. The carbon outer layer benefits from Mavic's UD² design, which gives it a distinctive visual identity and enhances its durability.Extensive field testing with Mavic's professional athletes allowed the brand's engineers to identify the most suitable internal width for fast, precise riding and optimal grip on fast race tracks: 25mm. For more technical terrain, some prefer a 30mm width, which offers better handling. Mavic offers both options. The choice is yours, and if you want, you can combine the two! For example, mount a Crossmax SL Ultimate 25 on the rear to improve your acceleration and efficiency, and a Crossmax SL Ultimate 30 on the front to gain confidence and control on difficult singletrack. The carbon rim features 24 straight, shrunken spokes (same spoke length throughout), crossed in pairs for optimal power transfer and vertical flexibility. The lighter Infinity hub platform maximizes lateral stiffness, while the spoking maximizes power transfer. The Instant Drive 360 freewheel body ensures quick engagement for more efficient acceleration out of turns with its dual ratchet system.
