Mounting a Hope T-Rex sprocket
You've been hearing for months about the single-plate transmission and its merits: easier to use and lighter. Hope offers you the possibility to test this system at a lower cost by removing a sprocket from your 10v cassette to add a king size sprocket: T-rex!
Step 1
Remove the rear wheel so that the cassette can be removed.
Step 2
Using the chain whip and the cassette remover, loosen the cassette nut.
Step 3
Then remove all the sprockets. Take the opportunity to degrease and clean the freewheel body.
Step 4
Choose the sprocket (and its spacer, if present) to be removed preferably in the middle/lower part of the cassette, so as not to create too large a gear gap. It is also possible to replace some sprockets in order to rethink the sprocket assembly.
Step 5
Install the T-Rex 40 sprocket in the first position, taking into account the cipher.
Step 6
Do the same with the rest of the cassette, respecting the original assembly order (the thickness between each sprocket must be the same from the first to the last!)
Step 7
Then retighten the cassette nut to the recommended torque.
Step 8
After reassembling the wheel on the bike, tighten the top roller height adjustment screw and ensure that your derailleur will fit on the largest sprocket by changing the screw (supplied) if necessary.
Step 9
The distance between the roller and the large sprocket should be a few millimetres in order to ensure optimal mounting.
Step 10
Place the chain in the large chainring/large sprocket position, creating a loop without passing it through the derailleur to determine its length.
Step 11
Add two pairs of links to the buckle, cut the chain to length and run it through the derailleur again so that it can be closed and finish by checking the derailleur adjustment.
