Indeed, most models, once folded, only take up as much space as a large hand luggageand weight around 10 kg approximately. Thanks to their advantageous size, folding bikes are particularly suitable for regular and relatively short journeys . Their pedaling positions doesn't allow intense effort and, with their small wheels generally comprised between 16 and 20 inches, folding bikes aren't made for sports activities or all-terrain. Hence, if you have enough room to store a bike and your journeys are relatively long, we advise you to turn to a city bike. Additionally, if you are looking for exercise and performance, you must own an optimized bike and therefore a road bike.
A folding bike to take everywhere
Folding bikes are mainly distinguishable by their ease of folding: it merely takes between 10 and 40 seconds to fold one, depending on the models. A simple and quickly pliable bicycle will be more efficient for very short journeys that can be combined with the use of public transportation. These bikes have the disadvantage of being less comfortable to use. On the contrary, a bike which requires additional handling to be folded is oriented towards longer journeys and provides better comfort. They're also ideal to go on holiday because you'll be able to transport them easily and benefit from a bicycle on your holiday place.
Choose your folding bike not only according to your budget, but also your frequency of use. A folding bike that's used every day is subject to a greater strain which can affect its durability and reliability. So the bigger your budget, the more you invest in a folding bike that will last.
