Replacing a Press-Fit Bottom Bracket
The Press-Fit is a standard bottom bracket that tends to become the norm. In this tutorial, we guide you step by step for the dismantling and replacement of the Press-Fit bottom bracket.
Tools required
Teflon grease / Punch or small flat-bladed screwdriver / Mallet / 5mm BTR wrench / Crank clamp / Universal or ratchet wrench / Bearing extractor/ Bearing cup press
6. Operate
Operate the bearing extractor with the universal or ratchet wrench. (Repeat steps 5 and 6 on the other side of the bike.)
10. Press
Press the bottom bracket shell into the bottom bracket without overdoing it. We advise you to press the bottom bracket shells one by one because you may wrongly position them if you press both at the same time.
13. Reassemble
Reassemble the pedals and crank on the left in the following order:
1. Screw the crank cap to the max (check the clearance and repeat the operation if necessary, this tightening must be done by hand so as not to constrain the bearings)
2. Fold down the cotter (it must go in effortlessly, if it doesn't, it mean that the crankset or the bottom bracket shells aren't mounted correctly).
3. Tighten the 2 BTR screws gradually.
