Petzl: from caving to mountaineering
Petzl is a French brand specialized in mountain and lighting equipment for sportsmen and professionals since 1975.

Fernand Petzl, the creator, is a passionate speleologist and initially manufactures his own pieces in order to cross the most inaccessible galleries. With his friend Pierre Chevalier, they developed new systems with, for example, the first nylon strings and the blocker. They managed to achieve a world record depth at -1122m in 1950.

In 1968, the production of blockers was launched and in 1970 the activity extended to mountaineering equipment. After the lighting invented for caving, Fernand Petzl and his sons created the headlamp for mountaineers.

Petzl offers products that allow you to progress in a vertical space in the fields of climbing, mountaineering, caving, canyoning, via ferrata and trail running. Professional fields such as rescue and construction also benefit from Petzl solutions: harnesses, helmets, carabiners...

Petzl also offers products for lighting, he is the inventor of the headlamp on a headband to free the hands for better efficiency in various activities and more safety.
