How does an electric mountain bike work?

E-bikes work with a motor that can be located either in the front wheel, in the rear wheel or in the crankset

This motor is powered by a battery whose autonomy depends on the battery capacity (measured in Wh), and of course, by the legs of the rider. The motor of the electronic bike accompanies the effort of the rider.

The batteries are generally Lithium (best charging time, longevity and weight) and offer an autonomy expressed in Watts-hours (Wh) or in Ampere-hours (Ah).

A 400Wh battery corresponds to a range of approximately 50km to 80km depending on use.

Batteries are also measured in Volt (V). The higher the voltage, the more the rider will perceive the relaunch sensation . Most batteries for eBikes are 24V or 36V.

How to clean your electric mountain bike?

Unlike traditional bikes, you should avoid washing your electric mountain bike with a high pressure jet. Pressure could seep into parts and damage them.

Before using the jet of water, also remember to remove the battery. To clean it, it is recommended to use a wet cloth and to dry it well before putting it back on the bike.

How to transport your electric mountain bike?

The difficulty in transporting an electric mountain bike comes from the weight of your bike. They weigh more than conventional bikes, so you will have to avoid certain bike carriers to focus on the most heavy-duty. Tailgate and roof bike carriers are not the most suitable for transport. It will be more prudent to opt for a bicycle carrier with a towing ball.
