What to do if you are in between bike sizes?
If you are on the edge of two different bike sizes, don't worry, you'll probably be ok on either size (rather than thinking that one size will be awful and the other will fit). Indeed, bikes are adjustable: the seatpost can slide up and down, the saddle can move backwards and forwards and you can even switch out parts like the stem for different sized ones to help the bike fit better.
Finding out whether or not you should pick a bigger or a smaller frame is sometimes as simple as personal preference, but there are a few simple ways to work out which might suit best:
- If you’re flexible, you might prefer a shorter head tube, so the smaller size might work out better for you. You can use a longer stem to make the reach more comfortable.
- On a bigger bike, the reach to the handlebars will be longer. This means that if you have proportionally longer arms, you might be more comfortable on a bigger frame.

The Rail 7 is a long-travel, electrically-assisted mountain bike designed to take on the trails. It incorporates the same advanced technologies as our analog trail bikes, including an upgraded fork, transmission and battery. It also has a powerful Bosch drivetrain that will be your commuter of sorts.
You're looking for a VTTAE for the trail, designed to take on the same challenging technical terrain as our non-electric trail bikes. You already know that VTTAEs are exceptional in the mountains, and you want to invest in better components.
A rugged aluminum alloy frame with 150mm of rear travel and a removable integrated 625Wh battery , a 160mm RockSox Domain fork, the latest Bosch motor with the intelligent Performance Line CX system, capable of speeds up to 25km/h, and a new Bluetooth® LED remote for easy connectivity, and bundling navigation and activity tracking with the eBike Flow app. A Shimano SLX/XT 12-speed single chain drivetrain, telescoping seatpost, powerful Shimano 4-piston brakes for added confidence on descents, and 29-inch Bontrager Line Comp 30 wheels that are fully tubeless (puncture proofing included).
The Rail 7 comes equipped with a number of upgraded parts, including the drivetrain, fork and wheels. It also comes equipped with a longer battery life than the previous model so you can enjoy more rides and adventures.
Product Highlights:
- Trek's removable integrated battery system is superb and very ergonomic: it completely hides the battery in the frame to protect it, allows for easy removal of the battery without tools, and leaves room for a bottle cage to be attached.
- The Bosch motor has all the power you need to tackle steep hills and the efficiency you need to explore all day.
- Bosch's new smart system doesn't change the power and responsiveness, but it does offer a new Bluetooth-connected LED remote control and the eBike Flow app, which provides even more control and customization options;
- The controller features walking assistance and an intelligent VTTAE mode that automatically gives you the power you need based on the terrain.
